Holton and the Great War

 HOLTON IN THE GREAT WAR

As with every other community in the country, and many abroad, Holton sent its men to war and families lost their loved ones.  The war memorial in the church graveyard contains the names of all who died, while inside the church is a board commemorating all those who served.

There was also a great contribution from then local community in treating the wounded, with James Paget Hospital becoming a hospital for the wounded, a major contribution from the Red Cross, and the station at Halesworth being key to the process.
